Born: 23 December 1950 in Komorniki
Field of specialisation:
mutagenesis, interspecific crossing, in vitro cultures, breeding
Research area:
I have been working in the field of mutagenesis for several years. During 1989 -1997 my team participated in a FAO/IAEA programme. This study was highly appreciated and its results have been implemented in Third World countries. Recently my team focused attention on the introduction of Miscanthus and Salix species as alternative sources of bioenergy using interspecific crossing and in vitro cultures. This research has been especially fruitful in the development and evaluation of new breeding material crop lines to be introduced to Polish agriculture. My research team has expertise in oil seed crops, this is especially true in case of the development, screening and evaluation of new genetic material new crop lines with improved oil quality as suitable for industrial uses and biodiesel production.
