About BIO-TALENT

The BIO-TALENT (The Creation of the Department of Integrative Plant Biology) project was submitted under FP7-ERAChairs-Pilot Call-2013. It is the first ERA Chair in Poland funded by the European Commission to upgrade, stimulate, unlock, develop and extend the research potential of the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences through the creation of an excellent, international and interdisciplinary research Department on molecular genetics, genomics, resistance to stresses and bioinformatics.

The newly created Department of Integrative Plant Biology at the Institute of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences will combine various disciplines and reinforce the research potential through joining the European Research Area, employment of excellent scientists in plant biology and strengthening international co-operation with leading European researchers and laboratories.

This project will help to transfer the expertise from advanced EU laboratories to young researchers and PhD students from our Institute by the organisation of conferences, workshops, seminars and lectures, and visits of top European scientists to share their knowledge as well as study visits of the BIO-TALENT team members and peer learning. The objects of research will comprise the main agricultural crops in Poland and central Europe, such as legumes, cereals, grasses and oilseeds.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no 621321.
