The scientists from Integrated Plant Biology Team, led by prof. Robert Malinowski, has received the Scientific Award of the Division II of Biological and Agricultural Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Pursuant to Resolution No. 9/2025 of the Division on November 27, 2025, the award was granted for the scientific achievement entitled "Description of the genetic and physiological mechanisms of plant response to infection by Plasmodiophora brassicae – the protist causing clubroot." The awarded team includes: prof.Robert Malinowski (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences), dr.Sara Blicharz (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences/currently Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences), dr.Soham Mukhopadhyay (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences/currently Laval University, Canada), dr.Juan Camilo Ochoa(Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences/currently Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences), dr.Karolina Stefanowicz (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences), and dr.William Truman (Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences).
By decision of the Award Committee of the "Book of 21st-Century Implementations", the System for Forecasing Disease Epidemics (SPEC), developed at the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS, has been selected for publication in the inaugural edition of the Book, as one of seven research applications in Poland. This document is a unique compilation of Polish scientific and engineering achievements that have been successfully implemented into practice. The authors of the implementation are prof.Małgorzata Jędryczka and dr.Joanna Kaczmarek from her team, both employed at the Institute of Plant Genetics PAS. The implementation was done in cooperation with DuPont/Corteva, COBORU, several scientific and technical institutions, and big agricultural farms. The ceremonial presentation of the "Book of 21st-Century Implementations" took place on 25 November 2025 in Kajetany near Warsaw during the 7th Congress "Health of Poles". The certificates were presented by Prof. Andrzej Szeptycki, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
