International PlutoF Training at IPG PAS as Part of the PestSpace Project

On April 28th, 2026, the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPG PAS) in Poznań hosted an international meeting dedicated to training in the use of the PlutoF application, aimed at creating a decision support system for crop protection against infectious diseases. This system will utilize a systematically collected, extensive, and real-time database of field data from Poland and countries from the Baltic Sea region, primarily Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland. The project results in the development of a mobile application, PestSpace, using image analysis to identify crop diseases in the field. Research started in 2025 and will be continued until early 2028 as a part of the PestSpace scientific and application project, funded by the European Union under the Interreg program (https://interreg-baltic.eu/project/pestspace/). The aim of these projects is to strengthen cooperation between countries around the Baltic Sea on shared scientific, economic, and cultural issues. The IPG PAS plays a key role in this project, coordinating one of the key work packages and actively participating in all remaining steps of the project, from developing research methods to their testing and implementation. In this way, the Institute aligns with the latest trends in agricultural sciences, known as Agriculture 4.0. This term refers to the use of modern technologies, including high-throughput environmental DNA sequencing and digitization using artificial intelligence and machine learning. The agricultural press participated in the event, so you can now read the first short report from the event by clicking the link below: https://agroprofil.pl/wiadomosci/warsztaty-pestspace/
