The 29th Festival of Science and Art

The 29th Festival of Science and Art took place in Poznań from April 20-24, 2026. Prof. Paweł Krajewski, Director of IPG PAS, participated in the official opening of the event. On April 22, at the Działyński Palace, the Institute invited primary school students to explore the fascinating life cycles of crops as part of a workshop entitled "How to achieve a super yield? Micro enemies, macro problems." The workshop focused primarily on monitoring the quality of crops at various stages of development – from germination to harvest. It demonstrated how careful observation allows for assessing plant health and predicting final yield. Threats to plants during growth were presented. The impact of unfavorable environmental conditions and pathogenic fungal attacks on crop quality was analyzed. The consequences of a lack of adequate control over these factors for agriculture and food safety were discussed. The practical part presented methods for identifying key phenotypic traits associated with plant health and simple tools for their assessment. The pathogenic fungi were presented on plates and in photographs.

Scientists from IPG PAS leading the workshop: Katarzyna Czyż, Katarzyna Czepiel, Maria Nuc, Polina Havrysh, Klaudia Grądzka, Magda Grodoń, Ksenia Wojtasik, Olga Łojkuć, Dominika Maryniak, Piotr Zgłobicki oraz Natalia Żyła. In the preparation of workshop were also involved: Karolina Sobańska, Monika Urbaniak, Monika Mokrzycka, Izabela Pawłowicz, Magdalena Taciak, Magdalena Biegańska, Marta Paczkowska-Fąferek, Marta Jabłońska oraz Renata Holewińska.
